Turning into a VILLAGER
I think it is time for the weekend update. I hope everyone's 4th was amazing. I had a pretty awesome time in a place I like to call the village. So my rule is if you are from a town that is less populated than my high school I went to, it will be referred to as the village. Surprisingly there are a lot of villagers here and they think Rexburg is big! This appalls me so much.
For a year now I have been hearing Maaaaandy and Claire talk about their village Eagar, AZ and how wonderful it is. So I figured I would drive the 14 hour drive to the village to experience the biggest holiday there, the Fourth of July. Friday after work we piled into the car and drove through the night. We got there at 5am. I got to see Claire and finally meet her family. They are as awesome as she tends to be. Saturday consisted of going to her family dinner with amazing food and a country dance. Needless to say, dancing is not one of my strong points. To put country dancing into that mix just puts me waayy out of my element. It was a good experience though. Then I got to meet Maaaandy's family. They are pretty much adorable and as tender as they come. Sunday consisted of more eating, and so did Monday. But Monday I got to go to the infamous parade and get a tan because it was bloody hott outside. And the Fourth wouldn't be complete without going to a RODEO!! It was my first rodeo, and it wasn't too bad. I usually hate them with a passion because it makes me sad and feel bad for the animals. Yah, don't judge me.
Now it is time for my rant.
I for one am a proud city girl that will claim the city is for me. I love the lights, the buildings, the diversity. I love it all so much. But ever since I came up to school, I've had a lot of friends that are from country places. Usually consist of the small townness. But even here in Idaho, it can get that country, redneck, cowboy feeling. At first I didn't particularly like it just because it was SO foreign to me. But now hearing all about small towns and experiencing one for a weekend, it has definitely grown on me. I do love the lifestyle. They are thoughtful, kind people. Everyone knows everyone, so they look out for each other. They might hate each other, but they still are looking out for them. They are hard working. They do things themselves. They don't sit around waiting for someone else to do it. They strap on their boots and go for the gold.
I absolutely love being Hawaiian and having that as my lifestyle. We are laid back people. But if I had to trade in my slippers I would definitely exchange them for some boots.
I had a fantastic time. Life is gooooood.
