One Year Ago
Exactly one year ago today, June 12, 2010, my mother turned 50. To celebrate her 50th birthday we ran a 1/2 marathon. 13 miles of straight running. It was by far the hardest, and best thing I have done in my life. The only goals I really had was to do it in a reasonable time and to never walk. I succeeded those goals and it was the best feeling ever. I trained all through winter semester and when I got home. It felt great to be able to run 5 miles with no problems at all. It would barely make me breath hard. It's insane that it's only been a year that I was able to do that. Now 2 miles is pushing it for me. After I ran the 1/2 I felt like I worked out enough to last me the rest of my life. The combination of working at Baskin Robbins and not running during the summer equaled a very regretful outcome. So again this year, the Provo Canyon marathon was held again. I wish we would have done it again so I could be in shape. I do think next year I will be ready to do another one. There is no better feeling than crossing the finish line and knowing you have just completed something that is hard. It's hard on the body, the mind, everything. That's for anyone, but my mother is amazing and she was 50... and she still beat me. It was her 2nd 1/2 marathon and she's ready to do more. She never seizes to amaze me. So today was her annual celebration. It was her 51st birthday and I was sad I wasn't there to celebrate it with her like we did last year.. Happy birthday mamma and I love you very berry much! I love you with every vein and artery in my heart!
